Chaukhandi Stupa

Chaukhandi Stupa is one of the essential Buddhist Stupas at Sarnath. It is a substantial pile of stone, whose rectangle building is enclosed by an octagonal in form structure. The Chaukhandi Stupa is said to be initially a terraced forehead during the Gupta interval (4th to 6th Century). Govardhan, the son of Raja Todarmal, provided the existing form to the Chaukhandi Stupa. He designed an octagonal in form structure to honor the check out of Humayun, the excellent Mughal leader. Chaukhandi Stupa was designed to level the position where Master Buddha met his first followers as he visited from Bodh Gaya to Sarnath.
