TV Tower / Doordarshan Kendra

Varanasi came up on the Doordarshan map on 26th August 1984 with commissioning of a 10 Kilowatt High Power TV Transmitter inaugurated by the then Honorable Prime Minister of India late Smt. Indira Gandhi.

Lal Bahadur Shastri Airport

Varanasi Airport which is also called Lal Bahadur Shastri Airport or Babatpur Airport is situated at a distance of about 18.9 Km to the north-west of the city center Varanasi. Varanasi is well connected with all the major cities of India like Delhi, Mumbai, and Lukhnow, etc and there is a daily direct flight from Varanasi Airport to New Delhi.

Manikarnika Ghat

Manikarnika Ghat is the main cremation Ghat of Varanasi. Manikarnika Ghat is one of the oldest and most sacred Ghats in Benaras. According to the Hindu mythology, being burned here provides an instant gateway to liberation from the cycle of births and rebirths. Lying at the center of the five tirthas, Manikarnika Ghat symbolizes both creation and destruction. At Manikarnika Ghat, the mortal remains are consigned to flames with the prayers that the souls rest in eternal peace. There is a sacred well at the Manikarnika Ghat, called the Manikarnika Kund. Manikarnika Kund is said to be dug by Lord Vishnu at the time of creation while the hot ashes of the burnt bodies makes one remember the inevitable destruction of everything in the world.

Malviya Bridge

Malviya Bridge, inaugurated in 1887 (originally called The Dufferin Bridge) is a double decker bridge over the Ganges at Varanasi. It carries rail track on lower deck and road on the upper deck. It is one of the major bridges on the Ganges and carries the Grand Trunk Road across the river. It has 7 spans of 350 ft and 9 spans of 110 ft long and it was the first bridge of its type constructed in the Indian sub-continent by the engineers of Oudh and Rohilkhand Railway Company (O&R Railway).The Bridge was renamed as Malviya Bridge in 1948 after Madan Mohan Malaviya. As the bridge is near Rajghat, it is also locally known as Rajghat bridge.

Varanasi Ghats

The 'Ghats' are undoubtedly the most valuable assets of Varanasi. None can imagine this holy city sans its numerous Ghats that dot the nearly 7 km arc line of the Ganges riverfront between the confluence of the River Asi in the south and the Varuna in the north.

Jageshwar Temple

Jageshwar Mahadev is also known as Agni Dhruveshwar is located at Ishwar Gangi, Varanasi
